Bridal sessions were once the first thing every bride did though out the mid-to-late 20th Century. Once we went into the new millennium this one time tradition slowly faded away in most parts of the country. The one region where it is still staying a tradition is here in the South. So your question may be why should I do a bridal session? Here are my top 5 reasons why bridal sessions could be an option for you and your wedding experience.
1. It's All About You: You, the bride, get all the attention on the day of your bridal session. It's nice to have an additional day to be the bride, where the dress and feel like a princess.
2. Make It Spa Day: Take the day and pamper yourself! Go get a massage, get a pedicure and manicure. Most bridal sessions happen in the late afternoon (especially if outside) and you can have time to treat yourself before hair & makeup.
3. Make A One-Of-A-Kind Piece of Art: It's a time where your photographer has creative control and time to make a statement piece for you. Yes on the day of the wedding a photographer does creative portraits, but often time doesn't always allow to make that 'wow' photo of just you.
4. Wedding Reception Statement Piece: From the bridal session the top goal other than making a beautiful portrait, is to print and frame that portrait to display at your wedding reception. Printing the portrait large (at least a 16 x 20) gives your guests a chance to see you and your dress in detail. It's an awesome way to get some oh's and aah's!
5. A Great Gift For Mom & Dad: Let's face it, most parents are happy your are getting married and they even love the person you are marrying. But at the end of the day you are their child and this portrait of you looking absolutely beautiful makes a great gift to them. They will display it with pride in their home and cherish it for years to come.
These are just a few reasons as why you might consider a bridal session before your actual wedding day. But if a bridal portrait is not your thing then consider an engagement session instead. Either one is great way to make beautiful photos, memories and get comfortable in front of your photographers camera.
