I'm introducing another blog series today called, Product Spotlight. Through this series you can see current and new products that we offer our clients to preserve their images we create. In this Product Spotlight I'm featuring our leather albums. This is not focusing on the style of the album, but on the professional quality of the albums that only comes from professional album companies. Professional quality is the biggest reason we use professional labs that exclusively service professional photographers. This is what differentiates our albums from the standard consumer market entities you see online. There are three areas where you will see these professional qualities. We start with archival photographic papers, then lay-flat binding and lastly thick pages. Let's take a closer look.
1. Archival Photographic Papers
We choose photographic archival papers because of color, longevity and aesthetics.
Color:
- Natural and smooth skin tones
- A smooth contrast between light areas and dark areas
- Beautiful saturation of rich and vibrant colors
Longevity:
- Archival photographic papers are rated to be preserved in their same condition for up to 100 years or longer. This of course is related to the how the product is stored and used. We include a card with tips on how to treat and store your heirloom album.
Aesthetics:
- Texture - Give the images a deeper look and makes the images appear more three dimensional
- Touch - Soft, smooth and no finger prints left behind
- Look - No glare and looks beautiful under varying lighting conditions
2. Binding
So why should you care about binding? There are two factors that are essential to great album binding.
- Durability: Without durability your album will not stand up to heavy use and fall apart over time.
- Lay-flat binding: Lay-flat binding allows the user to have each spread of the album stay open without the page closing back on itself.
Both of these factors give our clients a great experience when holding and viewing our albums.
3. Thick Pages
Thick pages are the first thing that everyone notices with our albums. They have weight and stiffness to them, which let's you know you are handling something different from your everyday book or magazine. Thick pages also just like the lay-flat binding, gives our clients a great experience when viewing their heirloom albums.
