We recommend to all our wedding couples to use a place for getting ready that has window light. Whether it's your home, a church, a venue or a hotel. We love window light for creating our getting ready photos. Why?
1. Since the window is relatively large in comparison to a person, the lighting will be soft for the gorgeous tone.
2. Window light is directional, allowing for dramatic effects through front, back, side lighting.
3. It is constant...multiple striking images can be captured with the same light source by simply changing the photographer's perspective. Combine this with different focal lengths and orientation and your shot becomes jaw dropping in no time.
In the first photo, we kept the groom facing the window; shifted the perspective, focal length and orientation of the photographer; and implemented the reflective surface of a near-by television yielding a dramatic image. The second of the bride is a blanket of light coming and making all her features just pop!
These two photos show how directional window lighting can be used to take amazing images. The first one we turn the brides head slightly towards the window light and the second one we have brides back to window and then her face and the dogs is turned towards the window. Simple techniques, but highly effective for beautiful photos.
We hope you like the results and take our advice to have window light photos taken when getting ready on your wedding day. We know you will not be disappointed!
